Who we are

GreenMatters Engineering (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). When you browse this website

We don’t use contact forms, cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and the site doesn’t load fonts, videos, maps or scripts from other companies. Everything you see is served from our own website.

Like every website, our hosting provider’s servers keep standard technical logs (IP address, date and time, the page requested and browser type) so the site can be delivered and kept secure. We don’t use these logs to identify or profile visitors.

When you contact us

If you phone or email us, we receive the information you choose to share: usually your name, contact details, company and property details, and sometimes electricity bills or consumption data so we can size a system. We use it only to answer you, prepare a proposal and, if you go ahead, to deliver and maintain your project.

We process it with your consent, to take the steps you’ve asked for before a contract, and in our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries, as section 11 of POPIA allows.

Who else sees it

We don’t sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the business, such as our email and document storage provider and our website host, who process it on our behalf under contract, and with others only where the law requires it. Some of these providers may store data outside South Africa; where they do, we rely on the safeguards in section 72 of POPIA.

How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it: enquiry correspondence for as long as it’s useful to respond and follow up, and project records for the life of the project and any period the law requires us to keep business records. After that, we delete it.

How we protect it

This website is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to enquiry and project information is limited to the people at GreenMatters who need it to do their work.

Links to other websites

The “Get directions” button on our Contact page opens Google Maps. Once you’re there, Google’s own privacy policy applies.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email office@greenmatters.co.za and we’ll respond as soon as we reasonably can.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za/complaints or enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect ever changes, for example if we add a contact form, we’ll update this page first and change the date at the top.
