3 069 kWp · 4.5 million kWh a year
GreenMatters’ largest installation to date, 3 069 kWp, spans the roofs of an industrial estate in Alberton, Gauteng. Like most of our commercial clients, the estate turned to solar for the three pressures that now define the South African market: electricity prices climbing faster than inflation, an unreliable grid, and the plain arithmetic of generating power for less than it costs to buy.
The estate’s roofs vary in pitch, age and orientation across its industrial units, so the array was engineered roof by roof and tied into a single grid tied system matched to the estate’s weekday load. It is modelled to generate around 4.5 million kWh a year, electricity produced on the roof and used on site, with the grid drawn on only for the balance. At this scale, that is a material cut in both the estate’s running cost and its exposure to the next tariff increase.
